Instructional Information

Parents,

Following another very successful season with record-breaking registrations, we're again opening up basketball registrations for the Instructional Boys and Girls Leagues for 1st and 2nd grade students.  The total cost for the season is $105.00.  We will have 10 sessions this year starting with evaluations and team assignments on Saturday, December 7th. The Boys evaluations are at Signal Hill with 1st grade boys starting promptly at 9 a.m. and 2nd grade boys at 10:30 a.m. All girls (1st and 2nd grades) are at ET Hamilton starting promptly at 9:00 a.m. It is essential that we start evaluations on time for both boys and girls as there are a lot of kids and we want to get you out of there in a timely manner and efficiently as we can.  If you are interested in coaching a boys team please email John Weipz @ [email protected]; if you are interested in coaching a girls team please email Jim Henry @ [email protected]. Prospective coaches should include an email and phone number where you can be reached.

After the evaluations on December 7th, the remaining sessions are: December 14th and 21st; January 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th; and, February 1st, 8th, and 22nd. February 15th (President's Day Weekend) will be used as the make-up date in the event that one the the other sessions is cancelled for inclement weather.

A schedule will be provided for each team after the first weekend. Your team coach will notify you of your practice/game times after the evaluations on December 7th.  For informational purposes, the sessions starting December 14th will have the following time slots: Boys slots are generally 9:00-10:30, 10:30-12:00, 12:00-1:30, 1:30-3:00, 3:00-4:30 at Signal Hill and 1:30-3:00 and 3:00-4:30 at ET Hamilton; Girls slots are generally 9:00-10:30, 10:30-12:00, and 12:00-1:30 at ET Hamilton. Depending on the number of teams we have, these slots may be adjusted.

The practice-game sessions will be broken down into 45 minutes of instruction followed by a 45-minute game.

We are often asked; can my son or daughter play on their friend’s team? While we appreciate a child's need for a familiar face, we do not make special efforts to pair children together; rather we view basketball as an opportunity for the children and parents to meet more of their Voorhees community. Tell your friends now so they register prior to evaluations and let’s play some ball!

Thanks again and looking forward to another great season this year!
